Wrap Up - January to April 2016

Sorry that my 2016 has been sadly lacking thus far. Despite not having a chance to update my blog I have done quite a bit of reading in the past four months. I got through 45 novels which includes; rereading 3 old favorites, completing the Lunar Chronicles, reading The Strain Trilogy start to finish, reading an 8 book box set, reading 18 books out of the 50+ novels in the Dark-Hunterverse and starting the Odd Thomas Series.

*a character trope are things you see often in books, maybe sometimes they get redundant or are overused (especially in ya) but you can't help but love them. A couple examples
- one girl against the government
- two best friends falling in love

• The Love Triangle  
• Two guys, one new flame, one old friend, + the girl
• Bad boy, Shy boy combo
• Anti Heroes
•  Bad boys who are good men
• The childhood and or past trauma 
• that is the root of all things evil 
• the reason why a character is so determined to "do good"
• how the other characters react
• maybe its something just the reader and the main character know
• That side character you always relate with or crush on
• For me its often the big muscly guy who has a : always had the same girlfriend or is always single with no one really interested in him
• Destiny. Fate. Signs ect
• This is a hard one to put down because there is so much love hate. Some books have it written in perfectly and with others I just find it unnecessary and frustrating. 
• Love should never be destined
• Birthday transformations are a grey area
• Prophecies are a favourite of mine
• Birth Marks are a grey area

I really found that the actors matched the characters in the book (huge pet peeve there, how many times has a blonde actor played dark haired character?!!?!?). I read all of these books before I saw any of the movies and I still haven't seen the last three movies yet

So I find doing this top 5 wednesday a little bit funny because I don't honestly have a "bookshelf" 90+% of the time, I just so happen to have one right now coincidentally but it doesn't have any books on it other than my library books because I don't own any books... Its more just a shelf then I guess? Which is what i normally don't have?

1. Supplements, I have one shelf entirely dedicated to protein powder, multivitamins, samples, progressive vegegreens, phytoberry, protein shakers, pre workout....

Books Read in One Day Tag

Books Read in a Single Day

I had originally titled this books read in one sitting but changed it to books I finished in one day or a single day. 

Obviously I mean each individual book for an individual day I did not read all of these on the same day. 

Often I will start a book in the morning read for about half an hour right when I wake up and then pick it up again at the end of my day just before bed and finish it. I have also read quite a few books in one sitting if it is a smaller novella.

Many of these I have finished on vacations so while driving for a road trip, waiting for a plane, or when I have had lots of extra time on a vacation and just lay about doing what I want; which is reading on the beach.

These books aren't in any order and I have included a few that I reread in one sitting (that I didn't read in one sitting or day the first time over) most of these don't have very many pages and or are junior high reads that I have picked up as an adult.

I am going to put this all down as if you are Vamp Newbies, and know next to nothing about our friends from beyond the grave.
What defines a vampire for me aka THE RULES not all of these criteria need to be met but the first 3 are always present, the farther down the list we go the more specific the book would have to be
*as vampires age from new born vamp to ancient the rules often modify or change all togther 

1. Undead 
2. Immortal, remain the age/appearance they died at, unnatural healing capabilities
3. Supernatural Powers (may have all or none or some)

Depending on the novel vampirism can be an underground secret affaire to something very public.
It can be an old or new "condition" depending on how long the public has known about vampirism.
Humans in the novel can range from Wanna-be vamps to terrified victims desperate to escape any contract to vampire hunters

Part 1 Animated Shows

1. Asterix, Rene Goscinny : there are a handful of "real people" films originally in french with a few translated into english, the same with a few Animated films. I would like to see them done in full as a cartoon for tv and have them stick more to the comics then some of the other movies did.
2. Redwall, Brian Jaques : again this was also started into a tv series but it only got through 3 out of the 22 books I would love to see it redone and finished. 
3. Wicked, Gregory Maguire : I really didn't like this book at all, but it would make a really good cartoon. Because as a show you would have to edit out the tediousness of the book. The base story would shine through
4. Fire Bringer, The Sight and Fell, David Clement Davis 
5. The Books of Blood, Clive Barker : These would be somewhere in-between films and a tv show, miniseries, each story being one or two episodes long and I think a couple of the stories would be told really well in almost a fantasia style (in thinking of "In the Hills the Cities" specifically when I say this) . I know at least one of these stories has already been turned into a non-animated film, although I believe because it is a full length feature they must have added to it (ive never seen the movie - midnight meat train)
