Book Review - Saint Odd

Saint Odd
Dean Koontz
6.5 Stars
352 Pages

Before his memoirs can be published he has to die, and his death will come in Pico Mundo where it all began.

This is the 7th and final novel is the Odd Thomas series!
It was a good finale, a very fitting ending. But I am incredibly pleased to be done the series, I found it was a roller coaster. I liked the story in the first novel and Odd's character although I found him very static, and didn't enjoy the tone or the writing very much. I wasn't as impressed as I had thought I would be, from this highly recommended read. Things got progressively better through books 2&3 as I adjusted to the style and grew to love the character (who totally grow on you). The books have a steady rhythm and pattern but lack anything gripping for me. The Odd Interlude was my favourite and the highlight of it all before it slowly started to decline.
Every one of these books had the same very structured plot which felt repetitive and then the last two novels re-stated so many things total deja vu.

I can see most people either loving the series or hating it. Give it a try and see what you think. Its a mashup of science fiction, paranormal, fantasy, mystery, thriller, supernatural and more.
