I have finally gotten around to the last novel of the Bill Hodges Trilogy! I got the beautiful hardcover for my birthday this year :)
I am torn between the positives and negatives of this novel, Positives : I really loved the characters right from the first book, strong fully formed characters are one of King's many talents and he did not disappoint. The dual points of view from both the heroes and the villains was incredibly well done. Evil is evil is evil, none of this justifying bad guy angst that has become such a popular trope - that I absolutely despise .
Negatives : I was so excited with the first two novels that there was nothing supernatural going on - it was a refreshing change - and while the supernatural was good and I loved the conclusion (although it is heartbreaking) I think a better idea could have been thought up. The book was consistently action packed and fast paced yet still managed to be a little drawn out (another King signature).
Overall I just love this series so much and most of my complaints are very very minor, picking at the little things that I noticed and some that I got watching a few other peoples reviews (which are now stuck in my head ) when I had completed the novel.
