Gwen is a normal British teenager, she hangs out with her best friend, listens to music, goes to school. While living in a large London mansion with her two aunts, cousin, grandmother, mother, brother and sister might be a little out of the ordinary, its nothing compared to the secret that her cousin Charlotte is a time traveller...or so they thought. When Gwen begins to jump into the past her life takes a 180 degree turn.  Brought into London's secret time travelling society, she attempts to catch up on a lifetimes worth of special lessons, avoid her furiously jealous cousin and aunt, jump back in time at least once a day and continue her normal life. As if this wasn't enough to make her head spin the handsome Gideon De Villers captures her heart.

I went into this book with a rather bleak outlook, I had heard quite a few negative reviews and while I found the story to be interesting I wasn't entirely sold on the idea. I thought that this was a great story and the writing was good but not great. The major flaws of this book are Insta-Love primarily, a love triangle between the impossible handsome Gideon with Gwen vs Charlotte. The bad characters are balanced out with the good ones, Gwen is likeable and relatable which mostly redeems for how irritating and frusturating she can be

Continuing where Ruby Red left off.
Gideon and Gwen's have a budding romance, although love between time travellers is more or less forbidden and love affairs between the Monterose and De Villers families never end well (exception of Lucy and Paul). I am surprised to find how much I like the prophecy in this novel, because of the time travel element it has a very different vibe. More like advice from back to the future than real prophecy. The predictability is getting on my nerves but I think that is just because I am the wrong audience, as I am progressing through these books, I have realized that although at this point they are not my favourite I know I would have really enjoyed this book when I was in Junior High (which is the intended audience). The characters went a little bit down hill, Gwen's romance? obsession? is really irritating and doesn't fit with the rest of her character. Gideon's confused bad guy good guy in love but not trusting, I didn't like him from the very beginning and I still don't find that his good balances his bad.
I did consider putting this book down because I was loosing interest, but I really would like to finish this series and it is such quick easy reading that I can't really justify not completing the trilogy.

Emerald Green

Stars 5.5

The conclusion to this charming story, we piece together the last of the clues regarding time travel (the various different time lines). We meet Lucy and Paul who join forces with Gideon and Gwen. Gwen is an immortal being a child from both bloodlines as is the count from a pervious time travel adventure having consumed the philosophers stone that was the result of the circle of 12 being completed.

I really wasn't impressed with 90% if this book, it started off with a continuation of the Gideon/Gwen affair that left a bad taste in my mouth. No trust, all the love, all the deception, no clear emotions. Declarations of love from both sides, all issues forgiven tada words greatest couple. The redeeming factor was the ending of the story I really really liked this finale. Gier is every readers dream and lets you know where all the "loose end" characters end up after/at the end of the book. I would love to read Lucy/Pauls story or the story of their unborn child.
